Designing food courts as dynamic destinations: showcasing connection and innovation

Our food court projects are a testament to our ability to blend functionality with design, showcasing our diverse product offering and manufacturing expertise. Each project has been thoughtfully crafted to meet the specific needs of the space, balancing high traffic flow and seating capacity with comfort and style.

In working closely with our customers and partners, we have created contemporary dining environments that foster both connection and individual needs, encouraging people to gather, relax, and enjoy their meals in spaces that are as functional as they are inviting.

Market City

This vibrant, multi-cultural shopping centre in Sydney’s CBD is renowned as the premier destination for factory outlet shopping. After the renovation of their Level 1 food court, we were engaged to refresh the entry dining area we originally completed a decade ago.

Collaborating closely with Market City, Deborah Lacy-Smith Interiors, and Ignite Architects, we delivered a full-service solution, including layout design, custom furniture, and finish palette concepts. Balancing budget with durability, serviceability, and vandalism concerns, while ensuring seamless integration with the existing food court and maintaining high customer turnover, were our key priorities.

The outcome is a bright, open space that visually connects to the centre, yet retains a distinct identity, designed to accommodate the high foot traffic and enhance the overall dining experience.

Minto Marketplace

We collaborated closely with Minto Marketplace's Centre management team to deliver a comprehensive solution, from design through to specialist manufacturing and installation.

The project brief was straightforward: to refresh the existing food court, creating a clean, modern, and welcoming atmosphere. Accessibility and budget were central to the design, ensuring the furnishings met the needs of the centre’s diverse demographic.

Our focus was on creating layouts and furniture that effectively zoned the space for short, medium, and long stays. We kept furniture profiles low to maintain clear sight lines to retail tenancies and the stage, while also ensuring ample space for wheelchairs, trolleys, and prams.

The project received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community, validating our approach and the impact of the newly designed food court.

Clarendon Centre

Designed by Studio IOD, Clarendon Shopping Centre’s food court has been transformed into a vibrant, functional space that enhances the overall shopping experience.

The redesign includes a mix of tables, banquette seating, the Fremantle Bin, and custom tables with planters and integrated power outlets. These elements create distinct areas for both dining and more relaxed lounge settings, offering visitors a comfortable and versatile environment.

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre's food court was completely transformed into a vibrant and dynamic casual dining precinct, with a full demolition and rebuild of the existing space.

The redesigned area features an adaptable layout that encourages social interaction and enhances the overall dining experience. Offering a diverse range of seating options—ranging from quick bites to more relaxed, extended meals—the space includes a mix of booth seating, bar seating, and intimate dining areas.

The renovation also brought in new furniture, lighting, ceiling treatments, and communal hand wash stations with filtered drinking water taps to promote hygiene. Additional pedestrian links were introduced to improve accessibility and foot traffic flow, ensuring shoppers have easy, convenient access to the area.
