Human-Centered Seating Solutions for Geelong Crematorium

Designed by VAMP Design, the Geelong Crematorium sought to create a more comforting and supportive environment for visitors. Traditionally furnished with long timber benches and thin cushions, the existing seating was considered “hard” and not ideally suited to spaces where people are grieving.

botton+gardiner supplied custom Atomik Modular pods, including a small moon ottoman and lounge units with armrests, upholstered in Baresque fabrics and vinyls. This configuration provides a softer, more inviting seating experience, particularly in the front row where a trial installation has been implemented.

The introduction of Atomik lounges represents a shift towards more thoughtful, human-centered furniture, with the hope that all traditional benches will eventually be replaced with this lounge-style solution.

We also collaborated with VAMP Design on the upgrade of the reception area at the Geelong Cemetery Trust building, refreshing the furniture to create a space that feels calm, welcoming and respectful.

Designer Bernadette Caruana selected modular pieces from our Atomik collection for their flexibility and distinctly commercial character - offering visual interest without feeling residential.

The space features Atomik modular lounges with two coordinating laminate tables from the same collection, upholstered in Baresque fabrics, creating a peaceful, considered environment to support visitors.

All seating was upholstered in Baresque fabrics and vinyls, our sister company within the Baresque Group, offering high-quality commercial textiles for your upholstery needs. Learn more
